A Hunter S. Thompson interview I never got to see

Seven years ago I was watching television with a friend who was channel surfing, when we came upon Hunter S. Thompson being interviewed by Tim Russert. I immediately reacted with some excitement, as I'm a Thompson fan and loved hearing what he had to say on a wide variety of issues. However, after a few seconds, my friend changed the channel. I asked him if we could check it out, and explained to him that he is the guy who Johnny Depp's character in the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas film is based on. He replied with not only complete indifference but was rather belligerent about it. Well anyways, seven years later, I can finally watch it. Apart from the poor quality of the footage, it's interesting to see how Tim Russert was the quintessential symbol of the lameness of the mainstream media. He looks at and treats Thompson as if he's from Mars because he opposed the illegal invasion of Iraq and unlike the White House Press core and the rest of the mainstream media, he didn't believe the Bush Administration's flimsy talking points.
