Thousands of dead fish washing ashore
On Monday, vacationing beach residents woke up to an awful smell and discovered thousands of dead fish washed ashore on a small island on the east side of Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Marine fisheries explained that the fish died due to a lack of oxygen, caused by warm waters. The fish were Menhaden, which are sensitive to changes in water temperature, and they may have been dead for days before washing up on the beach.
Dead fish are also turning up on a New Jersey beach.
