Slow response to Pakistan crisis
At least 1,600 people are believed to have perished in Pakistan's worst flooding in 80 years. The Pakistani army has deployed approximately 300,000 troops to assist with relief efforts, but people in affected areas have complained of a slow response.
In some villages, people have been left to fend for themselves. The UN is initiating an urgent appeal for millions of dollars to aid the 13.8 million Pakistanis whose lives have been devastated by the floods.
