Renewed push for talks with Taliban
Afghan president Hamid Karzai said that reconciliation talks with the Taliban have been going on for "quite some time". Behind the scenes, several initiatives to stabilize Afghanistan have been underway, the most high-profile being the formation of a peace council to facilitate the talks. The head of the council said the Taliban is open to discussions, pending certain conditions.
