Lou Dobbs quits CNN

Lou Dobbs announced his immediate resignation from CNN last night. Well known and publicized for his feeding the flames of the Obama birth certificate conspiracy, anti-immigration rhetoric, and nearly calling Condoleeza Rice a "cotton picker" on the air, Dobbs was CNN's longest serving host or anchor. Many groups have been pushing for Dobbs' removal from the network for quite some time. Although Dobbs was coy on his future endeavours (Fox News anyone?), his career in broadcasting thus far certainly has produced some memorable moments.

"Cotton..."

The reality is, this is the most socially, ethnically, religiously, racially diverse society on the face of the earth. Now, Wolf, we don't make enough of that in the national media. We listen to some idiot say you can't talk about race. ... Not a single one of these cotton...[stammering]...these just ridiculous politicians should be the moderator on the issue of race.

"A document issue"

Should he produce his birth certificate - the long form, the real deal? Should he be a little more forthcoming? ... What is the deal here? I'm starting to think we have a - we have a document issue. Do you suppose he's un - no, I won't even use the word undocumented. It wouldn't be right.

"Leprosy"

On April 14, 2005, Dobbs provided a truly shameful edition of his show, who not only speculated on the possibility of leprosy in America being brought upon by illegal immigrants, but Dobbs, along with correspondent Christine Romans, outright lied by claiming that there have been seven thousand cases of leprosy in the U.S. in the previous three years.

"Blood-sucking leftist...a stake through his heart"

I thought we had gotten rid of this left-wing pest for a while. But I guess he is just resurgent. He is a blood-sucking leftist. You have got to put a stake through his heart to stop this guy. So you have to give him credit for resilience even if he is a lefty.

"Tea-bagging queen Rachel Maddow"

And tea-bagging queen Rachel Maddow over at MSNBC, she wanted another shot so apparently she twisted, she tried to twist my words. She ignored my statements on the issue. In other words, she was not being intellectually honest. Imagine that. [...] She lied. I never said I'm a 'birther.' I'm not. I don't know how many times I've said, 'Barack Obama is a citizen of the United States. Why not release your birth certificate?' What is the big deal with saying that?

"Saint Jin Tao Wow"

I'm against Saint Patrick's Day. I'm against St. Columbus Day. Saint Joseph's Day. I'm against all of those things ... How about an Asian ethnic holiday? Is there one? You know, a Saint Jin Tao Wow?

"Mexico has become our enemy"

What is truly disturbing is that we have become a country in which people are trying to control our political agendas, our social agendas, with political correctness. Trying to control thought, and of course speech, through political correctness. And I love the fact that you said something that is politically incorrect, but is absolutely factually correct. Mexico has become our enemy.
