Peggy Nash campaign: focused on jobs

The ability to bring people together - no matter how frustrating it gets - is what Peggy Nash believes sets her apart from her competitors in the race for the leadership of the New Democratic Party.

To that end, the former finance critic has mounted a campaign focused on jobs and the economy, an area the federal NDP has struggled with in terms of its efforts to be seen as a credible fiscal manager in the eyes of voters.

Her plan, which has yet to be fully hashed out, generally seeks to bolster the manufacturing sector by ensuring raw materials are processed in Canada in an environmentally sustainable way, to bind foreign investors into creating jobs and development and to replace "nostrings-attached" tax breaks with incentives for research and development and innovation.

She also supports a national early childhood education strategy, a national transit strategy, investments in infrastructure and green technologies.
