Obama seeks support for job reform

US President Barack Obama, speaking on the country's Labour Day, urged Republicans to put their country ahead of their party and approve a new jobs programme he hopes to put in place. The president will, on Thursday, announce new plans to cut unemployment in the country. There is still uncertainty about whether Obama will continue to push to create jobs through tax cuts, or if he will propose new reforms. The president is gearing for a battle with congressional Republicans who say they will not pass legislation that adds to the national debt. Al Jazeera's Patty Culhane reports from Washington.
