Iraqis react to US troop withdrawal

The US military has said that a "new dawn" has come to Iraq, with the last American combat brigade that left on Thursday, seven years after the illegal invasion. However, 50,000 US troops will remain in Iraq for the time being. Actually, they're probably remain there for decades, seeing as tens of thousands of US soldiers remain in Germany, Japan, South Korea et al.

It was widely believed that the departure, which occurred two weeks ahead of schedule, would be met by with jubilation. But there is growing uncertainty regarding whether Iraq is prepared to stand on its own despite political instability.
