Hostages killed in Manila bus standoff

Philippine police shot and killed a former police officer who took fifeen Hong Kong tourists hostage on a bus in Manila earlier today. Rolando Mendoza, who was armed with an M16 machine gun when he hijacked the vehicle, had been dismissed from the police two years ago regarding corruption allegations and wanted to be reinstated.
