Bobby Jindal signs 'Guns-In-Church' bill into law

Only in America. What exactly is wrong these people? They love and need their guns that much, that they have to have them in church? And this was signed into law by the ultra-flakey Republican Governor Bobby Jindal. I wonder if Bobby would sign a law allowing muslims to bring guns to their mosques? Just imagine how well that would go down in the deep south. From the New Orleans Times-Picayune:

Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed into law one of the more controversial bills from the recent legislative session, one allowing guns to be carried into houses of worship.

[...]

[State Representative Henry] Burns' [R-Haughton] bill would authorize persons who qualified to carry concealed weapons having passed the training and background checks to bring them to churches, mosques, synagogues or other houses of worship as part of a security force
.

The justification for this law is that various churches are in high crime neighbourhoods and church attendees are afraid of being held up or the victim of another crime. The Times-Picayune aricle noted that the same law passed also would allow churches to "hire off-duty police or security guards to protect congregants". Perhaps they could've just taken the sane and rational root and Louisiana could've passed a law allowing churches to recruit off-duty police or security guards, without the gun nonsense.
