Mississippi River faces problems (climate change)
A prolonged drought has taken a heavy toll on the Mississippi River,
drastically lowering water levels of the largest river in the US. The
problem is so severe that cargo barges are getting stuck while trying to
navigate through it, forcing suppliers to instead make deliveries by
road - a much more costly alternate route that has driven up prices.
The Mississippi River's water level is currently four times lower than
it was last year, with forecasts showing little sign of rain in the near
future. John Terrett reports from Missouri.
