Electro-Motive Canada is closing its London locomotive factory just over a month after locking out workers when the refused to accept 50 per cent pay cuts, says Economic Development Minister Brad Duguid.
About 460 unionized staff at the plant, members of the Canadian Auto Workers, were locked out New Year’s Day. Union officials had feared the lockout was a precursor to moving the plant’s operations to the United States, taking the production technology to another Electro-Motive operation.
