The Bain of Romney's campaign
At a time when Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney would rather be selecting and rolling out his choice for vice president, the re-election campaign of US President Barack Obama is trying to tie him to the past. Obama's troops are raising questions about Romney's history at Bain Capital, a multi-billion-dollar investment firm Romney led until 1999. The Obama team says Romney's name was still appearing on Bain's government filings for years after he officially left - a period when Bain was making unpopular buyouts. Romney has also come under pressure to release his tax returns. While past presidential contenders have sometimes released as much as decades worth of filings, Romney has released only two years. Alan Fisher reports from Washington DC.
