Section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees Freedom of the Press, but it does not require that the Prime Minister actually answer questions. Also, the vineyard is private property, and although the cameras may have been invited, that privilege can certainly be revoked. Regardless, this is a fantastically stupid way of dealing with the press when they have perfectly legitimate questions to ask. But this isn't new: Harper's unique rules in dealing with the media have existed for some time now and show his general disdain for the fifth estate, and for Canadian citizens.
