According to
a recent U.N. report (PDF), the "economic invisibility of nature is a problem" for our civilization.
Even though approximately five hundred million people around the world rely upon coral reefs for fisheries and tourism, conservation of the reefs has not been a major or pressing issue within the mainstream media - despite the habitat facing
"warmer and more acidic seas as a result of climate change."
