Bernanke refuses to disclose loan recipients
When he came before the committee, I asked Mr. Bernanke if he would release the names of the financial institutions that received trillions of dollars on near zero interest loans. He said he would not do that. On that day, I introduced the legislation which now has 33 cosponsors.
Vermont's Independent Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders is fighting to amend the Wall Street reform bill to include this much-needed transparancy of the Federal Reserve. In this clip, Sanders, during a meeting of the Senate Banking Committee, asks Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke which financial institutions received trillions of tax payer dollars in low- and zero-interest loans. Bernanke simply answers "no".
