Michael Moore to Democrats: do something!
After some corny jokes and small talk, Moore gets down to business, by first taking on Democrat Congressman and full-time jackass Bart Stupak, who is attempting to prevent health insurance reform legislation from passing without his strict anti-abortion amendments (asshole). A clip of Mitt Romney at the 2008 Republican Presidential Convention is then used to demonstrate how ardently the American right-wing is committed the to deregulation, even though deregulation of the financial industry caused the financial meltdown that same year. And the Democrats are not pushing for regulation of Wall Street or the banking industry because they are complicit (taking lobbyist money and campaign contributions), or they are just too weak and spineless to pick a fight that the American people would get behind and be supportive of. But of course, you can't stand up for the people because that would be "socialism". Anyways, Moore is right, as the Democrats will be in for a massive beating if they don't quickly grow a spine or a pair and get something done, such as health insurance reform, regulation of the banking industry and the establishment of the Consumer Protection Agency. Standing up for nothing and being weak, cowardly and lazy will always result in defeat, and the Democrats can't seem to understand this.
...their base is going to be so depressed by the fact that we didn't get universal health care -- that we didn't put any restrictions on the banks and Wall Street -- people are just going to stay home and why they would allow this to happen, that's beyond me. ... It's kind of like, 'okay the boat is taking on water. Do we just sit here or do we pick up the Dixie cup that's over here and start bailing?' I mean, we may not make it but, you know -- do something. DO SOMETHING, Democrats. Are you listening to me?
