Paul Ryan: ban abortion, in vitro fertilization
Democracy Now!:
We look at Mitt Romney’s newly announced vice presidential running mate Paul Ryan’s record on women’s reproductive rights. Ryan opposes abortion in all situations, including cases of rape and incest, and opposes abortion in cases that endanger an expectant mother’s health. Planned Parenthood has also criticized his endorsement of a so-called "Personhood Amendment," which supports defining a fertilized egg as a human being. Ryan was a co-sponsor of the Sanctity of Human Life Act, which even the conservative state of Mississippi rejected last November, and is favor of de-funding Planned Parenthood. Ryan wants to dismantle Medicaid and repeal Obama’s Affordable Care Act. “For Congressman Ryan to think he’s the one that should be making the decision to take healthcare options away from women, that’s very troubling to us,” says our guest Nicole Safar, Public Policy Director for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin.
